1. A local museum which shows characteristics of Yamaguchi Prefecture
The Yamaguchi Prefectural Art Museum aims to study the art history of Yamaguchi from the present point of view and show the results. It also aims to develop the art of Yamaguchi through activities based on the local history and nature.
2. Interactive museum with public participation
The museum offers a variety of exhibitions: the permanent exhibition of the well-organized museum's collection, temporary exhibitions, and touring exhibitions by art organizations or newspaper publishing companies.
Moreover, the museum aims to develop a foundation of new art with the people of Yamaguchi. In order to have people interact in the art activities, the Yamaguchi Prefectural Art Museum offers art lectures, training programs, touring exhibitions, and the Yamaguchi Prefecture Art Exhibition which gives the people of Yamaguchi an opportunity to show their works.
